Ralf Wieland appointed as IWS senator

Ralf Wieland — new senator of the International Economic Senate

Emons gives political impetus via the IWS

Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons, was appointed as a senator in the International Economic Senate e.V. (IWS). The IWS is thus gaining an expert member from the international freight forwarding sector, especially in view of increasing globalization.

The IWS acts as a link between industry and science. The focus is on influencing German and European politics in a non-partisan way with impulses for the benefit of the general public. The Senate represents SMEs — the success factor of the German economy. 99% of German companies belong to SMEs, which provide 60% of jobs and over 80% of training places. The IWS operates with the values of an “honorable businessman.” It stands for sustainability, social responsibility, ethics and morality. Education, the promotion of young talent and international orientation form the pillars of IWS.

Wieland will bring inspiration from the medium-sized transport and logistics sector and thus optimally complement the network. “I consider it a great honor and a challenge to join the IWS as a Senator of Economics, which is one of the highest-grossing sectors in Germany but is only slightly noticed,” emphasizes Wieland.

With over 100 locations, Emons offers transport by road, rail, air and sea, as well as logistics solutions. 3,117 employees ensure smooth, global freight transport. Emons has its own companies in 18 countries.
