Ranga Yogeshwar congratulates Emons on jumping into the TOP 100
Emons named TOP 100 innovator among medium-sized companies
Honour at the German SME Summit: Ranga Yogeshwar honors the Cologne-based company Emons on the occasion of their success in the TOP 100 innovation competition. The awards ceremony as part of the summit took place on Friday evening, June 24, in Frankfurt am Main for all SMEs who were awarded the TOP 100 seal at the beginning of the year. The science journalist is accompanying the innovation competition, which is being held for the 29th time, as a mentor. In the scientific selection process, Emons was particularly convincing in the “Innovation-promoting top management” category.
“We realized very early on that digitization would have an enormous impact on the freight forwarding and logistics industries and capitalized on the opportunities it offers us,” says CEO Ralf Wieland. As early as 2014, Emons acquired a majority stake in the start-up Cargo International. “This allows us to offer our private customers the opportunity to calculate their shipping costs online and book transport right away,” he explains. In addition, top management has initiated its own digital division, which focuses exclusively on opening up new digital business areas. Nine teams, consisting of own employees, external start-ups and partners, are currently working here on digital projects in the fields of insurance, customs, dimensions, recruiting, yard management, B2C, dangerous goods and storage boxes.
