Starting signal for new logistics building in Thurnau

Emons is investing around €16 million in its new logistics flagship.

Emons builds logistics plant in Thurnau

With the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on 10.07.2020, construction began for the new logistics center in Thurnau. Emons is investing €16 million in its new flagship Emons real estate. On the 3.5 hectare plot of land, we are building a warehouse complex with 16,000 m² of logistics space and 700 m² of office space. 16 gates and a ground-level access road will be available for delivery and distribution. The 14-meter high halls have 20,000 high-rack parking spaces and are equipped with a block warehouse plus a mezzanine. This second level for assembly work is 2,000 m² in size.

The air-conditioned logistics facility is powered by ecological energy sources. With a photovoltaic system and an air heat pump, Emons is meeting its own sustainable and environmentally friendly requirements. This is supported by spacious green areas and the planting of trees. With a comfortable working environment and technical equipment that meets the latest requirements, Emons is setting new standards for its 50 employees. This will make Emons — in addition to the Himmelkron site with its 6,000 m² general cargo handling facility — an attractive employer with growth potential in the Thurnau region as well.

The local proximity to a major customer and the interesting conditions in the municipality of Thurnau were decisive for the choice of location. The logistics warehouse should be completed in March 2021 and the move from the current location in Bad Berneck will take place. The new building provides space for existing customer and new business in the areas of warehousing, picking, packaging and other logistical value-added services.

A 4K video system supports high security standards. The location will function as a customs warehouse with AEO-F status.

With the groundbreaking ceremony in Thurnau, the third plant is currently in the construction phase, as planned. The new building in Kenzingen is now well advanced. In December 2020, the Freiburg freight forwarding branch will move into the plant with 3,000 m² of general cargo handling area and an additional 4,500 m² of logistics space. The groundbreaking ceremony for the 10,000 m² Gengenbach logistics center near Offenburg took place at the beginning of last week. Emons Logistik GmbH currently carries out high-quality, customer-specific logistics activities on 225,000 m² — with an increasing trend and in its own real estate, as can be clearly seen in the two latest construction projects.
