Emons protects its IT processes and strengthens cyber defense
Cologne, September 02, 2025 — Being able to act for its customers and partners at any time is increasingly threatened by cyber criminals. Emons identified this risk early on and has consistently built up an effective information security management system (ISMS) since 2022. This allows effective protective measures to be combined to respond promptly and coherently to potential cyber security incidents. Building on this, Emons has had its central IT services to provide transport and logistics services certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the international standard for information security. The independent audit by TÜV Rheinland certifies that Emons Service GmbH has an effective management system and a high level of safety in transport and logistics processes. The certificate was presented by Ralph Freude (TÜV Rheinland), Ralf Wieland (CEO Emons) and René Koch (CISO Emons) at the company headquarters in Cologne on September 2, 2025.
Advancing digitization and increasing networking of essential IT services offer areas of attack for cybercrime. As a medium-sized company in the transport and logistics sector, Emons is sending a visible sign of trust in a strong partner of secure supply chains, underlined with an internationally recognized certificate for information security.
“Information security is business-critical for our transport and logistics services—from data transmission and shipment tracking to digital services. Certification in accordance with ISO 27001 is a strong sign of trust to our customers and partners along the supply chain. This underlines that Emons sees information security holistically as an integral part of its transport and logistics services and is systematically developing them,” explains Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons. For Emons customers and partners, this means:
· verifiably high level of protection of business-critical information in processes and IT systems for the provision of transport and logistics services
· risk-based management and continuous improvement of safety measures through a structured management system
· Transparency and reliability in audits and processes thanks to standardized procedures and regular reviews
· higher resilience to cyber risks through continuous modification
The Emons ISMS ensures the security of the company's customer, employee and partner data through clear responsibilities, documented technical and organizational controls, and a continuous improvement process.
“Safe logistics requires more than powerful trucks. The successful certification was only possible because we worked consistently with our IT department on central security solutions. Through prioritized and coordinated measures across all teams, we were able to meet internal and external requirements — from policy work to audit preparation — and thus created opportunities for ourselves to make risks visible, react quickly in the future and be able to deliver reliably,” says Emons CISO René Koch. This is supported by professional governance, risk and compliance practice: “The processes introduced with the ISMS bundle measures from reviews and audits for follow-up — this measurably increases transparency, efficiency and resilience.”
About the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard
The internationally recognized standard defines requirements for setting up, operating, monitoring and further developing an ISMS. It requires a structured, risk-oriented approach as well as regular internal and external audits to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information in the long term — including annual monitoring audits and periodic recertification.
