As of January 1, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the EU customs union.
Transport news to/from the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland
Despite the Brexit deal, numerous customs formalities must therefore be fulfilled on both sides. Longer running times are to be expected until this settles in. We've put together the key points for you to ship your shipments to and from the UK.
Unfortunately, we currently have to suspend shipments to private recipients, as GBPR customs is currently excluded in the UK. In order to avoid overloading the warehouse in England, it is necessary that the goods remain in the shippers' warehouse.
Your checklist - export
- No private recipients, as customs clearance via GBPR procedures is excluded
- Export declaration (ABD, EX1, AE, MRN) starting at 0.01€ goods value
- 3-fold commercial invoice
- Who is responsible for import duties?
The recipient's customs agent or Emons partner - Does the recipient cover any costs?
VAT 20% in the UK and any import duties/clearance costs - Recipient's EORI number
- Contact person at the recipient with telephone number and e-mail address
- Delivery only after Avis. No appointments
- Since Brexit, pallets must comply with ISPM 15
Your checklist — import
- Before shipment: seller's commercial invoice.
Request your invoice
- Exporter address and EORI number
- Importer's address and EORI number
- Importer contact details, email address, telephone number, and contact name
- Delivery address, if different from the importer's address
- Incoterms
- Invoice number
- Description of goods for each individual item
- Number of parts for each invoice item and summed up
- Net weight for each invoice item and summed
- Total gross weight
- Carton/pallet dimensions (unless an additional packing list is included
- Commodity code/HS code for each invoice item
- Billing currency

Certificate of preference
- Up to 6,000€, a “Declaration of origin” (eZu) from the exporter is sufficient (for individual or multiple shipments of identical goods for a maximum of 12 months)
- In excess of 6,000€, a declaration of the origin of the REX (Registered Exporter) including the REX number is required. We would be happy to help you register for REX.
